Primarily used in underground distribution systems (indoor or outdoor), compartmental type pad-mounted distribution transformers offered by SGB MY are designed to meet applicable ANSI, NEMA and other transformer specifications. Available in single-phase and three-phase models, radial or loop-feed configuration using either live-front or dead-front designs. Pad-mounted transformers offer several advantages when compared to ordinary substation transformer.

Furthermore, in some configurations that includes primary/secondary over-current and/or over-voltage protection , pad-mounted transformer offer lower over-all cost compared to substation type transformers with separate over-current/over-voltage protection cubicle.
